A birthday message from Granny

The day you were born I felt like the only grandmother in the world! You were my number 1 and you belonged to me. The time you lived with me after Papa died meant so much to me and made the nights not so lonely. Thank you. I love you!

A birthday message from the Jones Family

Wow! The big 4-0! What can we say that hasn’t already been said…

1. Whether you want it to or not, the body starts falling apart. You get one thing
fixed and something else breaks! The joys of things to come!

2. Life goes much faster when you get to 40 so slow down and smell the roses
and drag. It. Out.

3. Who says you’re “over the hill”?! We may be climbing it, but we ain’t over it
so just tell them to keep quiet!

4. Act like you’re 5 and you’ll last 40 more years and possibly beyond!!!

Well, hope you have a great birthday! It will be a great year!

A birthday message from the Ross Family

Dear Alex,

What an amazing milestone – 40 years old. MAN YOU ARE GETTING OLD!!! Just Kidding……

In all seriousness, Regina and I have absolutely enjoyed the time that we have spent with you and your beautiful family. We have come to know you as a leader among leaders:

You are a wonderful Father – the love you have for your children is an example for us all.
You are a caring husband – the teamwork that you and Amy display is a true reflection of how solid your relationship is.
You are a faithful Brother in Christ – your commitment to God’s word is evident in all that you do.

When you add all of this up, it should come as no surprise that it has taken 40 years to make this kind of an impression on someone – Again……Just Kidding!!

We love you Alex and we wish you the very best that life has to offer - Not just today, but always…….

Sincerely,

Jeremy, Regina, Charis and Jacob

A birthday message from your Father-in-Law

Alex, being forty years old doesn’t hurt THAT bad. Maybe some places more than others, but tolerable. Thank you for loving my daughter the way you do and for teaching your (My!) wee girls to know the Lord and his way of living. You make your Poppa-in-law proud.

Alex's birthday present from his family!

Alex has always wanted to drive a race car. It is one of the things on his "bucket list", and I decided that 40 would be a great time to do this. Besides the fact that we are finally getting financially fit, Alex has stated that 40 for him is not "over the hill", rather, he is starting a second childhood. This just fit so well! Before we gave him his ticket, we made him get into our car through the window. Nascar vehicles do not have doors, so he is going to have to be able to get in through the window in order to drive. It was no problem! And we're off!

When we arrived at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, they suited him up and gave him some basic training in racing a car. I love a man in uniform! This program is setup with a leading car (professional) and then the follow car (person who paid for this!). As long as the follower could keep up and drove steady, the leader car would take them up to a higher speed after a couple of laps. Alex drove the number 45 car and his high speed was 139 mph! They built these cars to the exact specs of the real Nascars with only 3 modifications (fiberglass body instead of steel, passenger seat and I forgot the 3rd thing). See the bottom of the blog for a picture of the real Kyle Petty number 45 car.
He said this experience was absolutely the best and couldn't believe that his 8 laps went by so quickly! We did order a dvd of this experience, but it won't be ready for a couple of weeks. While we were waiting for the drivers to get ready, they loaded up the kids into a van and took them on the track at about 120 kilometers (not sure what that is in mph), and they had fun!

A birthday message from your Mother-In-law

The Hulk turns 40 – it’s just too much!!!!

To Alex:

Turning 40 can be fun. No more diapers to change (for a while), no more college (yea), a good job, beautiful wife, 2 beautiful girls - you’ve arrived. You’re at the top of the hill. Only one problem – you need really good brakes from here on because you don’t want to get to the bottom too fast.

We really appreciate all the toilet repairs you have done, the floor work and all the computer problems you’ve fixed. We hope this doesn’t mean you’re too old to do that anymore. We especially appreciate those 2 terrific grandchildren. We’ve all shared some tough times and some really fun times. We wish you the best in year 40 and hope to be a part of it.
Happy Birthday from Peggy!

A birthday message from the Albers family

Alex,
WOW, are you really turning forty??? I want desperately to tease you but since I (Amy) am not far behind I'll hold back. Funny how much younger forty seems now than it did when we were kids and it was ancient! Seriously, we hope you have your best birthday yet and that all your very best years are still ahead. We'll be thinking of you!

A birthday message from your Mom and Dad

Happy 40th Son, We cannot tell you what we felt the day you were born. You were such a sweet happy baby that any one that saw you loved you. There were some close calls when you were growing up, like the K-Mart incident (when you decided to see the world without us), having a collison with a motorcycle while riding your bike, riding your bike around a house foundation like Evil Knievel, riding your bike into the side of the house, or driving the car into the house, and the fact that we thought about killing you a few times; we were not sure that you would live to be a man.
But you did sweetheart, and moved to Oklahoma to find your soul mate. And you did just that. Thanks to Amy You have grown into the fine man that you are today. We could not love or be more proud of you.

We love you,
Dad and Mom

A birthday message from the Taft family

Alex,
We hope your 40th birthday is a very happy one... that is a milestone that we all must pass.
Hopefully by the time we have gotten there we are wiser and smarter... I am sure you could claim such.
You've made it this far, you have a wonderful family that loves you, and you have a God who loves you too
May the Lord bless the last half of your life even more than first.

There is one thing about turning forty though... we do get wiser and smarter... but we never get prettier.

Happy Birthday Alex!!

Love,
Scott, Maureen and Colman

A birthday message from your wife.

My dear, these past 16 years have been filled with amazing memories. A marriage like ours has some people shaking their heads, but I have enjoyed every minute. Thank you for my 2 beautiful girls! They are our pride and joy. They are classic examples of the good things about each of us and we are better people because of them. Thank you for loving me. I never worry about whether you care because your love is in each and everything you do. Thank you for working hard for us. You have always put your family first and made sure that we are taken care of. Thank you for being spontaneous. It has taken some getting used to, but I have experienced many things because you thought we should try something new. Thank you for always learning. We have become better individuals and a better couple because of our constant search for more knowledge. Thank you for your devotion to God. Without a father and husband who stands on the most firm foundation, we could not be the family we are today. You are creating a legacy, and I'm proud to be part of it.
